MiKTeX is unofficial, and sometimes breaks on Windows-quite rarely, but seriously enough to bring your work to a halt. ![]() Besides that-and I cannot emphasise it enough-in 4 years, I have encountered many cryptic errors that were MiKTeX-specific on various colleagues’ computers that could not be replicated in TeXLive or Overleaf (that is using TeXLive). TeXMaker is becoming a thing of the past-compared to it, TeXStudio provides more features (in small things like dark theme support, or document parsing for better structure view, or better paragraph rewrapping etc.) and is being more actively developed. I would actually suggest two equivalent alternatives.
